Terms & Privacy

The short version

• Utabiri coins are not money. They're free, have no cash value, and can't be bought, sold, exchanged or withdrawn.
• Utabiri is a game of forecasting skill for entertainment and learning. It is not gambling or betting, and it is not financial advice.
• You must be 18 or older, and you may have only one account.
• We store only what we need to run the game, and we never sell your data.

1. Virtual coins

Every account receives free virtual coins (🪙) when it signs up, plus optional daily bonuses and prizes. Coins exist only inside Utabiri. They cannot be purchased, and they cannot be redeemed, transferred between accounts, or exchanged for money, goods, services or cryptocurrency, by us or anyone else. Any offer to buy or sell Utabiri coins or accounts is not authorised by us and breaks these terms.

We may adjust balances to correct errors, reverse the results of cheating, or rebalance the game. Coins, prizes and leaderboard positions have no value outside Utabiri, and you have no property rights in them.

2. Markets and resolution

Markets ask questions about future events. Each market lists rules explaining how it will be resolved. Our admins resolve markets using those rules and publicly available sources, and their decision is final. We may clarify a market's wording, or cancel a market and refund everyone's coins, if a question turns out to be ambiguous or can't be resolved fairly.

Prices on Utabiri show what players collectively believe. They are not predictions by us and should not be relied on for any real-world decision.

3. Fair play

You agree not to:

• create more than one account, or use other people's accounts;
• coordinate accounts to move prices or funnel coins or prizes to one player;
• use bots, scripts or exploits, or interfere with the site;
• choose an offensive username, or impersonate someone else.

We may reset balances, remove prizes, or suspend or delete accounts that break these rules.

4. Your account

Keep your password safe; you're responsible for activity on your account. You can stop using Utabiri at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account using the feedback button on the site. We may change or shut down the service, or update these terms. If we make a significant change, we'll post it on the site.

Utabiri is provided "as is", without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from your use of the service. Since coins have no value, no loss of coins is a financial loss.

5. Privacy: what we collect

• Account details: your email address (private), username (public) and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address from Google.
• Game activity: your trades, balances, positions, prizes and notifications. Your username, trades, positions and leaderboard stats are public.
• Messages you send us through the feedback button, including any email address you add.
• Technical data needed to run and protect the site, such as a sign-in cookie, your theme preference, and bot-protection checks.

6. Privacy: how we use it

We use your data to run your account and the game, send notifications you've opted into (such as results and prizes), prevent cheating and abuse, and reply to you. We don't sell your data or show you third-party ads.

We rely on these service providers, who process data on our behalf:

• Supabase: database and sign-in, hosted in the EU (Paris)
• Vercel: website hosting
• Resend: notification emails
• Web3Forms: delivering feedback messages
• Cloudflare Turnstile: bot protection
• Google: only if you choose "Continue with Google"

7. Privacy: your choices and rights

You can change your username and email preferences in Settings, and unsubscribe from emails with the link in any email. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account, using the feedback button. Depending on where you live (for example under Kenya's Data Protection Act, Nigeria's NDPA, South Africa's POPIA or the EU's GDPR), you may have further rights, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal details. Anonymous game records may be kept so markets and leaderboards stay accurate.
